SOCIAL PROGRAMME

You come to Madrelingua to study hard and learn Italian, but of course you want to have a good time too and make the most of your time in Bologna. What's more, meeting people and socialising with them will give you a valuable chance to use the language skills that you are learning.

We offer our students around 10 hours of free social activities a week ("free" means we will not charge you, but some activities, such as visiting a museum or having a meal, will involve a cost to you - you are free to choose whether you want to sign up for them, or not.)

During your course you will have the opportunity to:

  • enjoy an "aperitivo" with your teacher and fellow students
  • go out for meals with others in your group
  • visit some of Bologna's famous museums and cultural attractions
  • take a guided tour of the city
  • learn how to cook some of Bologna's most famous delicacies - ragł, tagliatelle, tigelle, crescentine!
  • taste the local wines at a typical "cantina"
  • go on day trips or half-day trips to interesting places near Bologna: Ferrara, Ravenna, Dozza, Modena
  • attend lectures given by Madrelingua staff on Italian history, literature, art or culture
  • organise a trip with other students to major Italian cities  such as: Venice (2 hours by train), Florence (1 hour), Rome (3 hours). We will help you arrange your train tickets and advise you on things to do and see.
  • visit local companies, such as Ducati
  • go shopping in Bologna's famous markets and boutiques
  • walk (or run, like the locals) under the portici all the way up the hill to the famous landmark, San Luca.
  • eat ice-cream from the best "gelateria" in the city.
  • watch an Italian movie together with your classmates - we have a selection of DVDs for you to watch

On your arrival, you'll be given a list of things to do and places to see.

We promise you won't be bored!
