There are six levels, corresponding to the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. Levels A1 and A2 are for "basic speakers", levels B1 and B2 for "independent speakers", and levels C1 and C2 for "proficient speakers".
CILS certificates can be a valuable addition to your curriculum and can help you demonstrate to a potential employer your level of proficiency in Italian. For Italian teachers they are an essential proof of your knowledge of the language that you teach, and for students who wish to study at Italian universities, CILS certificates are acceptable to show that your Italian langauge skills meet the minimum req uirements.
You can do the exams at fixed times during the year. The next sessions are:

Enrolling for your exam is easy. Just come to the school, fill in the application form and pay the course fee. You enrol for the exam and pay the fee at least 7 weeks (49 days) before the exam date. When you enrol, please bring your passport or identity card, which we will photocopy and attach to your enrollment form.
Our study centre contains exam practice material for the CILS exams to aid you in your preparation. You can also buy specific exam practice books, if you choose. Most students who wish to sit one of the CILS exams follow a standard Italian course at the appropriate level, sometimes adding individual lessons so as to be able to focus on the specific problem areas that they have. If your budget is limited, you could ask for help from our "afternoon tutor", who is available each day from 14.00 to 16.00 to help students with their specific problems which are not otherwise covered in our courses.
For students studying at our school in the period immediately before the exam sessions, we organise short preparation courses specifically for a CILS (May/June and November/December). For these courses, we only use teachers who have had significant previous experience preparing students for the CILS exams, and so are able to offer our students the best possible preparation.
